Training

Lobbyist Training is Required

All registered lobbyists in West Virginia must participate in formal training once every two-year registration cycle.

Live training session are held in January and October.

Lobbyists also may fulfill their training requirement by viewing the training video on this website or by borrowing a DVD of this video from the Ethics Commission.

 If you have not completed your training for the 2023-24 cycle, you must do so before registering for the 2025-26 cycle. This “make-up” training will only be credited to the prior cycle and will not satisfy training requirements for the subsequent cycle.

For the 2025-2026 and later cycles, our policy will be that a lobbyist who failed to complete a mandatory training, will be denied registration (or made inactive) for another cycle until he or she takes (or makes up) the missing training.  This make-up training will be credited to the prior cycle.  The training will not satisfy the next cycle’s training requirement.

Online Lobbyist Training​

To receive credit for online training:
​
     1.  View the entire video (Lobbyist Training Video).​

     2.  Complete and sign the Lobbyist Training Verification Form.

     3.  Return the completed Verification form with your original signature to the Ethics Commission
          via U.S. Mail or scan and email to:   kateland.j.cantrell@wv.gov.
